Women of any church or tradition are invited to join an advent study and conversation of The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, facilitated by The Rev. Jeanne Finan and The Rev. Judith Whelchel.
The ancient Gospel of Mary Magdalene was discovered in Egypt in 1896 and translated from the Coptic in 1955. The Magdalene’s gospel has added much to the conversation about the sacred feminine, the human condition and Christian thought and experience.
The study will take place on Tuesday, November 29; Monday, December 5; and Tuesday, December 13, from 11:30 until 1:00 pm at St John’s Episcopal Church, 290 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville. Please bring a lunch, beverages provided. Because of a severe allergy, please make certain your lunch is completely free of onions or any onion product. Thank you.
Phone 298-3553 to register and to reserve a copy of the text: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene by Jean-Ives Leloup.
The cost of the text is $13.50, discounted by the generosity of Accent on Books.
Then Mary arose, embraced them all, and began to speak to her brothers: He is calling upon us to become fully human. —From The Gospel of Mary Magdalene
