Join us in beautiful Blowing Rock for a day with Bishop Porter Taylor. The topic of the day:
The Post-Institutional Era and Prayer.
It is said that every 500 years the Church has a gigantic rummage sale as happened in the Reformation. We are in such a time, and, therefore must ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to know what to embrace and relinquish. Turbulent times as ours call for this gift of discernment.
In times when towers fall and institutions crumble, what is that faithful Christians are to hold onto with dear life and what must we let go? What are our nonnegotiable essentials that we have to retain lest we lose our core identity and what are not at the center of our identity and can be released? Times of change are opportunities for us to rediscover who we are.
This Day with the Bishop will explore these questions and touch on the changes in the culture as well as some indications of faithful responses that will include prayer, liturgy, and church structure. The day will offer a morning lecture, lunch, early afternoon small group conversation and reflection, and then Bishop Taylor will synthesize the day.
