“We grow into Christ as we learn the faith, as we practice the fundamental Christian disciplines, and as we increase our sense of connectedness to God through prayer. We are always on this journey home. Therefore, Christianity is not a set package of ideas for us to ponder, but is a pilgrimage for us to walk together. … Christianity is a journey of a lifetime.” —Bishop Porter Taylor

WELCOME to the Diocese of Western North Carolina and to the Lifelong Christian Formation Website! Christian Formation is a lifelong process of growing in faith and in the practice of Christian life. Within the baptismal covenant a promise is made by each of us to support the newly baptized on a lifelong path of spiritual formation. It is a call to ministry! We promise to continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers … to proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ … to seek and serve Christ in all persons … to strive for justice and peace among all people. These promises to cultivate a life of faith involve worship, study, prayer, contemplation, fellowship, outreach, mission, and stewardship—and it is not limited to Sunday mornings. Christian formation is all that brings us to a deeper and more joyful awareness of the presence of God within us, and around us, and teaches us to look for Christ in others. We welcome you into the rich and exciting journey of becoming who you are called to be! If our committee can help please do not hesitate to contact us. It is our joy to journey with you and our hope to grow into the people God dreams for us to be.

In thanksgiving for your ministry!

Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom: Enlighten by your Holy Spirit those who teach and those who learn, that rejoicing in the knowledge of your truth, they may worship you and serve you from generation to generation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. —Book of Common Prayer, p. 261
